Subject: "How to Improve Learning and Teaching Process in Zanzibar"

Abstract: For the purpose of improving the learning ability of students and teachers’ ability to teach in Zanzibar schools, the following five areas of concentration need to be considered and duly implemented: i) the return of teaching discipline back to the responsibility of the people; ii) to build and maintain schools that provide enabling environment for teaching; iii) to improve the quality and integrity of teachers’ professionalism; iv) to improve management and inspection in the sector of education; and v) to substantially increase the budget for education. Maalim Mussa Tafurwa, Secretary-General of Zanzibar Teachers Union, will discuss the best ways and means in the efforts to providing an enabling environment that will ensure the effective realization of these noble objectives.
