Zayed Giving initiative in Zanzibar


Medical voluntary team from UAE and Zanzibar treats children and elderly through mobile clinics

Abu Dhabi: A joint medical voluntary team from the UAE and Zanzibar has started to treat thousands of children and elderly people through the Zayed Giving Convoys’ mobile clinics in their fourth charitable medical mission carried out in response to an appeal from the Tanzanian Ministry of Health.
The mission is running under the Zayed Giving Initiative with support from Dar Al Ber Society, Sharjah Charity International and the Saudi-German Hospital in coordination with the UAE embassy in Tanzania and under the supervision of the UAE Volunteers platform. The previous missions carried out by Zayed Giving Convoys in Zanzibar treated more than 3,000 children and elderly people.

The voluntary mobile clinics are supervised by the Doctors of Giving led by UAE cardiologist Dr Adel Al Shamri, chief executive of Zayed Giving Initiative, and include volunteering doctors from UAE, Tanzania, US, France, Britain, Canada, Egypt, Pakistan, South Africa and India.
Dr Noufal Mohammad, a representative of the Tanzanian Ministry of Health, extended his thanks to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the generous efforts made by the UAE in areas of humanitarian aid, stressing that the UAE always sets a role model in lending a helping hand to those in need all over the world.
