SUZA signs partnership agreement with Manipal University of India

The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) and Manipal University (MU) of India have entered into partnership agreement focusing on Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences at Karnataka,Manipal University in India through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on 7th January, 2015.
 
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idris A. Rai signed ten partnerships on behalf of the State University of Zanzibar, and the Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. H. Vinod Bhai signed the Partnership Agreement on behalf of Manipal University.
The official signing ceremony was held at Manipal University in India and witnessed by Dr. G.K. Prabhu, University Registrar, the Legal Deputy Director of Manipal University, and Mr. Mtaib A. Othman Senior Legal Officer from SUZA.
Following this collaboration, SUZA seeks to build its capacity through staff training, staff exchange, and
collaborative research between SUZA staff and staff of MU. Other areas of cooperation include development of new programs to be offered to SUZA’s school of Health and Medical Sciences depending upon the needs of Zanzibar population.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat has expressed his willingness of Manipal University to support SUZA in establishing well qualified medical staff at SUZA in various areas that are relevant to the country.

He suggested that a team of senior academic staff from MU to visit Zanzibar soon to assess the state of health profession at SUZA and the Zanzibar government Ministry of Health in order to assist in developing training and strategic road map for medical education at SUZA.
Meanwhile, Prof. Idris A. Rai suggested that the implementation of the MoU shall start immediately. Immediate activities shall include sending potential SUZA staff for Masters training at Manipal University starting with Basic Medical Sciences that include Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology.
Other immediate areas include exchange of staff from MU to teach the ongoing Medical Doctor programs at SUZA.
Manipal University is a premier private University in India ranked No. 1 on research and publications among Non government Universities in India. It also ranked the same position among Indian Private Universities by QA
Ranking of Asian Universities, 2014. The University has off-campuses in Mangalore and Bangalore, and off-shore
 
 
 
 
 
 
campuses in Dubai (UAE) and Melaka (Malaysia). The Mangalore campus offers medical, dental, and nursing
programs. The Bangalore Campus offers programs in Regenerative Medicine. The Dubai campus offers programs
in engineering, management and architecture, and the Melaka campus offers programs in medicine and dentistry
