The wave of torching bars in Zanzibar continued on Thursday after unidentified arsonists set fire on two bars named ‘Bar Mpya ’and‘Nyama choma', the police confirmed.
The number of bars burned down in Zanzibar since the beginning of the just ended holy month of Ramadhan is now 12, according to the bar association tally.
“We are hunting for arsonists, and ask people to help us identify them. We want to stop this crime in Zanzibar,” Urban-West Regional police Commander- Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aziz Juma said.
Last month ‘Zanzibar Muslim youths Mobilisation and Propagation group’ (UAMSHO) said it welcomed the burning of bars in the islands.

It is disappointing, that the security of the Islands is deteriorating while the organs charged with the duty of protecting citizens and their properties just stand and look!No sane human being would ever believe that the Police know nothing about those thungs, hence failing to arrest them. we cannot either rule out the possibility of the police to collude with those criminals...If what so called UWAMSHO is supporting the burning, police investigation should start from there!Iam a muslim and Zanzibari as well but ..That's not the Zanzibar we want!
