As
part of the celebrations organised for Europe Day on 9 May, H.E. Filiberto
Ceriani Sebregondi, Ambassador of the European Union
to Tanzania and the East African Community, will be in Zanzibar for the
launch of two new Development Cooperation agreements directly supportive of
important initiatives in the Archipelago:
the Zanzibar
Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency Programme and the Zanzibar Non State Actors support Programme.

WHY: The European Union Delegation and the Zanzibar authorities are co-signing
Financing Agreements for two European Development Fund programmes: the Zanzibar Renewable
Energies and Energy Efficiency which allocates EUR 3
million (6.8 billion TZS) over 5 years (2014-2018) and the Zanzibar Non
State Actors programme with an additional allocation of EUR 3 million. The event will mark an important
milestone in the partnership between the European Union and Tanzania , in
particular the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.
