The first draw of NMB Bank’s Mastabata-Kivyako Vyako reward campaign was held yesterday in Dar es Salaam with the first 100 winners of the promotion pocketing TZS 10 million in prize money.

The digital finance competition was launched mid last month to promote the use of Mastercard payment cards as part of NMB’s support to national efforts to establisha less cash society.

NMB is also using the digital economy drive to reward loyal customers who have transformed with the bank in its digital transformation journey.

Speaking at the draw to pick the first weekly winners of the new MastaBata campaign, a senior personal banking manager, Mr Ally Ngingite, said over TZS 200 million will be won during the three months of the promotion.

“This is the third edition of the MastaBata campaign that started in 2018 to encourage and motivate both customers and noncustomers of NMB Bank to use Mastercard cards when making payments and undertaking e-commerce transactions,” the personal loans expert noted before the raffle.

“Like its predecessors, MastaBata-Kivyako Vyako is also intended to recognise and reward NMB loyal customers who continue to use our services especially those involving digital transactions,” Mr Ngingite added noting that there will be also monthly draws of the competition and a grand finale.

Apart from the weekly raffles in which 100 lucky winners will walk away with TZS 100,000 each, 25 customers will win TZS 1,000,000 every month. In the grand finale to be held in March, 30 customers will pocket a whopping TZS 90 million after grabbing TZS 3 million each.

Mr Ngingite said some 1,000 customers of the bank are expected to win the cash prizes of the over TZS 200 million promotion. NMB customers making payments using NMB MasterPass QR are also part of the Kivyako Vyako version of the MastaBata campaigns.

NMB says the competition has been a success in promoting digital payments and during the three years of running it, card usage has increased tremendously amongst its customers.

The achievement led to Mastercard International awarding the bank a special trophy last November for being the fastest bank in card usage growth in Tanzania with a year-on-year surge of 104 per cent.
