Yangzhou sends 22 medics for foreign aid to Zanzibar and Malta

Yangzhou City held a farewell ceremony for medical members bound for Zanzibar and Malta on the afternoon of September 18.

All 20 members of the 33rd medical team of Jiangsu Province to assist Zanzibar are from Yangzhou City, which also sends two medics to the 19th medical team destined for Malta, who will serve along with other team members from Wuxi City.
All members have completed the training and are scheduled to depart for their host countries on September 20 for a one-year mission.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of China’s dispatching of foreign aid medical teams. The program not only exemplifies the Chinese people's commitment to peace but also serves as an important part of China’s international cooperation and exchange efforts.
Yangzhou is among the pioneering cities in China to have contributed to the program. Since 1964, the city has sent three batches of 74 medical professionals to assist in Guyana, Zanzibar and Malta.
