ABSTRACT: This presentation will look at the historical background to the current situation in Mayotte, a small Island in the Indian Ocean. It examines the evolution of the relationships between the Island, the Comoros and France; and the bearing these have on the contemporary crisis facing the Island.

Finally, the presenter will examine the way forward for all stakeholders on the continued peace and stability of the Island with key recommendations for the future.
